About the Event

The Boys of Hope ProgramTM (est. 2008) is a weekly program designed for boys in grades 6- 12. The program began with one group of 40 boys at North High School in Minneapolis, MN after community members called for a mentoring program to help boys graduate successful from high school and become an interrupter of the school to prison pipeline for African American boys. The program is facilitated by men from the community who engage boys in a critical thinking, reflective, hands-on, experiential based process where they explore five core curriculum components: personal power, cultural awareness, manhood, leadership development, and service-learning. The program also engages men from the community as “Social Fathers” to be role models, mentors and career coaches as a core strategy for motivating, inspiring, and educating boys on how to be a positive and productive man in your community and world.

During this year long curriculum, the boys learn about what it means to have Hope, be a Man, have a “Birth Right”, discover their Personal Power, become positive Leaders, and serve their community through Service-Learning. The foundational goal for our boys is to successfully graduate from high school and attend college.
