-------------------------------------------
Come learn from some of the best in the business on how to work assertively - yet with purpose! Our youth rearing examples in teaching, mentoring techniques, outreach efforts, and effective methods of engagement - make for a 1 time isolated training - or it's perfectly OK to attend all 8 sessions!
- Event Details: During these 8 sessions, we will demonstrate ways to build community with youth, providing and injecting our knowledge/wisdom at keys points in the conversations, role-plays and exercises. Helping participants reach deeper in their own understanding of their life circumstances, and how to come to terms with a "poverty mindset." There is an explicit conversation on "Boundaries" - what they are, how they work, and how they play a role in our success (or sometimes failures). Each youth participant will be reading "The Power of People" - by Dr. Verna Price, utilizing lessons outlined in this workbook. The goal of this program is to coach the youth participants into using their own life experiences, to gain a better understanding of the course material. As the youth participants grow and build community, their reflections of their own personal struggles will shine through as they share. Once facilitators begin to understand some of real-time struggles for the youth participants - these subjects become the subject-matter for the reminder of the course. Ultimately, providing examples, role-plays, writings, and even songs to express and help the youth participants, flush out a better understanding of their existence in society and their communities.
- This is NOT a "hands-on" training, the youth participants are seeking clarity in their lives; the community members and service providers in attendance are invited to learn, through observation ONLY, ways to better their parenting, instructing, mentoring and/or facilitation of our youth. There are three (3) highly skilled trainers providing the course material for the North 4 Youth Program, and it is absolutely necessary that ALL GUEST reserve their voices, until the Input & Critiques portion AFTER all program participants are dismissed.
Thank you for respecting the culture we have built - we look for to helping those interested become better at their craft.
In absolute Peace - Executive Director, Richard McLemore II
